See the last section of /usr/share/doc/python-support/README.gz for
details of how to handle public extensions.
The difficulty is that the package build uses scons, and so it is hard
to follow the instructions there.
There is one package in Debian that uses both scons and python-support,
xmms2. Perhaps you can work out how it does it. I am having trouble.
