I'm familiar with this section, but it does not say so, and it isn't
true that native packages can't be pristine: my .tar.gz's are pristine,
and they build native packages.

This seems to make even less sense to me.  Maybe I'll raise this
question on -devel, because it really interests me whether there is a
guideline like this or not.
