Right, the build process first build the build system, which uses
shared libraries.  I am using LD_LIBRARY_PATH now for the build, which
actually makes alot of sense (to override any installed copies of
those libraries).

I found dh_shlibdeps -l useful, thanks.

I think I will actually be installing them into /usr/lib/, with a
proper soname (even though the soname won't serve any purpose, as the
executables are bundled with the library).
