expired key

Hello,

I was about to vote when I realized that my GPG key has expired
exactly one year ago.  In private communications this didn't pose
a problem, but chaning Debian password for example didn't work.
My question is, how do I get a new key accepted in the keyring
without going through a keysigning hoopla again?  In other words,
am I able to get a new key in the ring using my old key somehow?
