moving conffiles: Is there a way to fool dpkg?
Hi,
when a configuration file is moved from one package to an other one, but
the file itself is not changed, then there's a problem with smooth
upgrades: dpkg will tell the user he (or a script) has changed the file.
The same is true if the file changed its name and content, and is mv'ed
to the new name in preinst to preserve possible user's changes: Even if
there are no user changes, dpkg will complain, because the files are not
registered for the old package.
Is there a way to get around this easily? (See also Bug #233886)
Regards, Frank
