Using debian/tmp has advantages for multi-binary packages, IMHO: it gives you a way to easily review the contents of that directory after "./debian/rules binary" to see if upstream has installed anything new that needs to be added to the file list for one of the packages. -- Steve Langasek postmodern programmer
