Hi!
I'm new here and want to get into Debian Development after working out an
idea for a new debian program while at the Debian mini-conf at Linux.conf.au.
I'm planning to write an apt method(or similiar) that will allow you to build
packages from source, but with full optimisations for your processor. i.e.
You would be able to install your complete debian system with all the
optimisation for your processor(amd, p3, whatever).
It could also allow Debian to be ported to more obscure architectures. These
could be source only arch's, they would be buildtested, but not shipped as
binaries. You'd just download the standard source and use my program to
install it.
I'll be coding in Perl, because I can. :-) I'm just wondering what would be
the best way to go about "joining" the debian project. I won't post anything
about it in debian-devel until I have code. Anyway, I'll be at Linux.conf.au
for the next few days, so is there anyone who's there that would be good to
talk to about joining the Debian developers? Thanks,
David
