Are we?  

I thought I was speaking of a library that does not have any SONAME whatsoever.

Is there another meaning of SONAME of which I am not aware?  I thought
it referred *only* to the tag embedded in the file; i.e. the one you can
find using "objdump -p xxx.so | grep SONAME".
