It's always better to stick with upstream's naming conventions, IMHO.
That way if a user is familiar with the program on a non-Debian system,
they can come to Debian and find the same program names. If I install a
package and the binary name is not the same as the package name, a quick
dpkg -L <package> is all I need do to find out the name of the binary.
