Actually ls -ld works fine, providing you leave off the trailing /.
$ls -ld /usr/doc/gcc
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 16 Mar 29 18:31 /usr/doc/gcc ->
../share/doc/gcc
$ls -ld /usr/doc/gcc/
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 16 Mar 29 18:31 /usr/doc/gcc/
