How do I depend on a specific kernel version?

Hi,

I am currently working on a package that provides the framework to
build an IP packet filter based on netfilter / iptables. This needs a
2.4.x kernel. How do I depend on a kernel-image-2.4.x?

Next project will be a package that needs 802.1q kernel support. This
is a kernel patch. I am aware that there is some infrastructure in
debian to support kernel patches and works well with kernel-package.
Is this infrastructure documented somewhere on the net? How can I make
a package depend on a patched kernel?

Any hints will be appreciated.

Greetings
Marc
