Upstream integration of debian diffs?

Hi,

the upstream author of one of the packages I maintain offered me to integrate
my debian diffs into his source code. My diff doesn't patch his sources,
everything is just in the debian/ subdirectory.

Does such an upstream integration make any sense? Currently I think that this
only causes more work both for me and for the upstream author, but I could be
wrong.

Thanks
Thomas
