Sorry for the delay, I also wanted to talk with the former LizardFS
maintainer as well. I've now finally submitted a ITP for SaunaFS
(https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2024/09/msg00115.html). Since it was my
first ITP, I don't know if I missed anything (I may have been too detailed,
after now reading other ITP's). As said there, I will need a sponsor, but I'll
start working on packages for it.

It's not actually part of the kernel in any way. It uses FUSE (fuse3), which
means all of the program is written in userspace. The only thing close
to the kernel is the client, which handles the filesystem calls from the
kernel in userspace.
