But why is there any "need" for it. That other source package crux was
removed and the Debian Med crux is not uploaded (and I checked and think
it is really tough work to get this done). So what actually is the
*need*?

That other crux was part of Debian in 2003 and was removed later.

The Thermometer page has the version information automatically
generated. I was wondering why you are crafting another list
manually.
