Not sure if there is a new issue by now, but when I was working on
this last, the missing public cram_to_bam symbol was the only
remaining issue that prevented sambamba from building in Debian (and I
heard Sambamba upstream wanted to port away from the internal API, but
that hasn't happened yet).
