thanks a lot for your work on this. My suggestions for changes are so
unimportant that I do not want to rebuild just to fix these.

Overriding this is fine - just push this. Can become effective
with the next upload. Please add some DEP3 description to
debian/patches/blastdbv4-tests-filter-archs.patch
I've just added you as author.
BTW, missing DEP3 issues are of level lintian --info
