We might try pinging #debian-ftp or answer the automatic mail from
ftpmaster that the package is new with adding [covid-19] in the subject.
There is no guarantee given - but we should try this.
I just pinged them on IRC as you suggested. I got immediate responses from highvoltage, hlieberman, and ScottK. They will be monitoring #Debian-Med so please let them know on there if something you're working on needs NEW processing. highvoltage also requested a static listing of packages that need their attention. I added a wiki page at [1] for that purpose and linked it from the salsa event page [2].
Hope this helps! I didn't specifically ask but I assume that any packages already in NEW, that would support this effort, could fall under this process.
