I fully agree with you that this would one piece of an ideal world. But
we do not live in an ideal world. Just mentioning orphaned software (we
have even software which is available in the internet only because it is
in Debian) and also ignorant upstreams (unfortunately).
So yes, we should try and you are kindly invited to spent your time into
forewarding patches or whatever.
