BTW, I had another look into the t-coffee issue.  I was missing the hints
from Bernhard Übelacker

who found out before me that the issue happens in sid only but not in
testing. Did you respected this when you checked t-coffee or did you
missed it in the same way as I?

I do not remember exactly if I tried to check the testing previous time (and right after that I had destroyed my Debian VM just with one command, haha). I have just installed the t-coffee and t-coffee-examples (12.00.7fb08c2-1) from debian repo to my (new) buster machine and the same command (t_coffee -aln sproteases_small.cw_aln sproteases_small.muscle sproteases_small.tc_aln -outfile combined_aln.aln) continues to fail.

I will take one more look at this today and write to the list if I find nothing.
