Thanks for uploading and spotting the missing dependency. I'm executing autopkgtest . -- null for quick checks during creation of tests. This time I should've forgot to run it in chroot in the end.

Cool, many thanks! I just took a look and I’m going to upload with some minor modifications.
BTW, your autopkgtest revealed that there apparently still was a missing dependency on bsdmainutils (providing /usr/bin/column, which abyss-tabtomd needs). I wonder why that wasn't picked up — are you running your autopkgtests in a chroot or LXC container?
