Testing of pan-package workflows - how?

Hello,

I am interested in testing complete workflows based on packages in
Debian. The emphasis would be more on "data out here is working fine as
data in there" for a chain of commands, and on "this result is close to
the expected" rather than working on single packages. Are there any
proposals on how to get there? The workflows themselves would also have
a bit of a promotional side to indicate that the Debian packages are in
a good shape.

I am tempted to come up with a package that ships both data and and
workflows to execute, with dependencies on the workflow execution
engine, the packages to test, and the test routines/workflows. Are there
other ideas to implement such tests with our infrastructure?

Is that anything reasonable for Debian to do? Or should this rather be
done outside of Debian? Do we need any particular kind of visualisation
of the test results? Is there a community you are aware of that would
share such test routines with us?

Cheers,

Steffen
