Please fix bugs or how you could enhance your C programming skills
Hi folks,
I've taken Thorstens advent calendar[1] as motivation to try to fix two
bugs or more per day and I managed this at least in average. Several of
the bugs I fixed were really easy targets - some of them perfectly fit
for beginners. While I've seen others fixing bugs as well I had hoped
that Thorstens nice calendar might have attracted more bug squashers.
When checking bugs I also stumbled about those long standing bugs tagged
"[Mayhem]" on our list of bugs[2]. These bugs were more or less ignored
in the past and I admit I also did not much about these. However, when
I recently fixed some of them I need to say that the reporters obviously
invested quite some time to do a security analysis on the code and we do
not really respect their nice work if we simply ignore this. I noticed
that fixing these Mayhem-bug is a nice way to enhance / refresh your C
skills which might be an extra plus. The issues are not really hard to
find and you have the personal advantage and do something for our
software quality.
So please keep an eye on our bug list[2] (not only the Mayhem ones but
also these) and help fixing even more bugs until Christmas (and if you
do not care about Christmas feel free to keep on bug fixing until end
of December ;-)).
Kind regards
Andreas.
