pysam held up in Ubuntu

Hi, Matthias,
I'm one of the people maintaining the python-pysam package in Debian
from among the Debian Med team. I noticed that the package has not
been getting updated in Ubuntu and it seems that this is because you
applied a patch to the package there over a year ago, which prevented
automatic merging of updates ever since.

This is causing trouble because there are at least 4 packages that
have not reached Ubuntu because they require a recent version of pysam
than what has frozen there. Is there a way we can clear this block? I
see that you applied the patches attached to #753490, but those
patches would need some maintenance and do not seem very relevant so
long as htslib itself does not build on mips, either.

Many thanks and regards
Afif
