[Fwd: Bug#775753: ITP: opensurgsim -- A free platform for surgical simulation]

Hello debian-med,

I have been a long time follower, and have just added my first ITP for
an opensource project I work on, OpenSurgSim. I have been following the
documentation, but I am sure I will have many questions about packaging.
I have helped a bit in the past with ITK, so this isn't all new.

First of, does this project fit debian-med? It is similar to SOFA, which
I see is a currently a debian-med package, in the Imaging task
(sofa-apps).

Second, I have started creating the package, using git-buildpackage, and
would like to push it so others can help me out? I see that the
documentation has instructions for running "setup-repository" on
git.debian.org. I have an Alioth account, is this what I should do?

Finally, would this effort be a good candidate for a MoM?

> OpenSurgSim is an open-source project dedicated to real-time surgical
> simulation. It offers an open framework that includes the necessary building
> blocks for surgical simulations, such as native device support, haptic
> feedback, graphics, discrete collision detection and physics simulation.
> OpenSurgSim is flexible. Developers can refactor the physics engine, swap
> models, ODE solvers, or linear system solvers.
