A bit more progress:

The upstream branch has now been tagged,

and pushed to the Git repository in Alioth.

The following works now   ....at least for me...   :-) 

for replicating the build in a fresh directory:

  git clone git+ssh://git.debian.org/git/debian-med/vista-foia.git

  cd vista-foia/

  git-buildpackage 

  cd ..

  sudo dpkg -i vista-foia-0.20130405_0.20130405-1_amd64.deb

  sudo dpkg -i vista-foia_0.20130405-1_all.deb

I'll be now cleaning up a lintian warning, 

and

will start looking in more detail at the "deploy" script,

that can be used to create actual VistA instances after the

package has been installed.

This "deploy" script is based on the following script

https://github.com/OSEHRA/VistA/blob/master/Scripts/Install/GTM/createVistaInstance.sh

crafted by Christopher Edwards (from OSEHRA / KRM ).

This debian-adapted script gets installed currently in 

   /usr/share/vista-foia/V-0.20130405/deploy/createVistaInstance.sh

This is the type of deployment that I'll plan to use in 

my class at SUNY Albany this current Spring semester.
