YOu should not try annonymous checkout. It is known to be broken
(I reportedt at debian-devel list) and could be done if you
s/svn.debian.org/anonscm.debian.org/
if you try
svn+ssh://<your-user-id>@svn.debian.org/
everything should be fine. (alternatively `debcheckout --user <your-user-id> <pkg>`)

It is not a Linux problem but rather a problem with svn.debian.org which is
known but not (yet) solved.
