I'm not perfectly true but I tried to change ownver with a plain e-mail
address which seemed to work:

I'm not perfectly sure because it is not that often that I used the BTS
control to change the owner. We might let this either settle after it
seems to have worked now or you might like to ask debian-mentors for an
explanation.

Yes, that's the right approach. No need to spend time into old versions
for the moment.

I think you lost the race - at least for this commit. :-)
Obviosely I had a look into the packaging which was done by Thorsten and
I admit I do not really understand the idea behind just installing the
tarball into the file system. I need some more timr to understand this.
