It does look as if this directory is somehow missing from the
source distribution.  However, it doesn't seem to be necessary
for the makeCore target - if you remove all three lines that
contain "timeSrc.dir" from cdm/build.xml then "ant makeCore"
succeeds again (with protobuf 2.3 anyway).

I didn't try to fix the build errors I saw when trying with
protobuf 2.4, but I can have a look now.
