As far as I know it is MacOnly because several Mac internals are used.
Porting this really good (and free) software to Linux would also be
a great thing to do.

I do believe that Qt FrameWorks can do the job.

C++ dev, accept obj-C (needs compiler), portability +++ (unices, MacOs, Windows - without extra-coding).
LGPL lib
KDE use it (with some adaptations) since the begining.
