Any imake guru (shared lib vs static lib) ?

Hi there,

 I am in the process of packaging dicom3tools:

http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/debian-med/trunk/packages/dicom3tools/trunk/

 The tools are extremely useful, but I do not know imake enough to switch from building static lib into shared libs. Has anyone done this in the past ?
