A number of doctors are using Linux + DOS-Emulator + APW (Wiegand),
a commercial DOS-based software for German practitioners. More details:

You may want to try the Knoppix-CD mentioned there.
Other DOS-based applications like TurboMed have been tested under
DOSemu as well.
