Bug#999583: Rearranging window list causes segfaults

Package: mate-panel
Version: 1.24.1-1

I keep suffering segfaults shortly after I rearrange the order of windows in the mate-panel window list. This is very annoying as the order of the windows is lost each time it crashes.

The more windows that I rearrange in the list, the more likely it seems that this bug will be triggered. It also seems to be worse if I switch between workspaces afterwards. The segfault usually happens a few minutes after rearranging windows but I have no 100% consistent way to reproduce it.

The segfault can happen multiple times per day, so I now avoid re-arranging my windows to avoid triggering it.

Example from syslog:

Nov 5 08:02:43 orion kernel: [6876356.694455] mate-panel[3761167]: segfault at 2000000002 ip 00007f051c842ab4 sp 00007ffefb8d6160 error 4 in libgtk-3.so.0.2404.20[7f051c503000+374000] Nov 5 08:02:43 orion kernel: [6876356.694467] Code: 84 00 00 00 00 00 41 56 41 55 41 54 55 53 48 85 ff 0f 84 0f 01 00 00 48 89 fd 41 89 f4 89 d3 41 89 cd e8 3f 12 cc ff 48 89 c6 <48> 8b 45 00 48 85 c0 74 05 48 39 30 74 10 48 89 ef e8 56 62 cc ff

I'm running Debian 11.1 with linux 5.10.0-8-amd64.
