Hi,

apparently as of yesterday the applet works again (at least I noticed
it yesterday). No idea why. a few days back I installed a newer
kernel-image (5.5.0-1), no idea if that fixed it. But as I was under
the impression a rebuild of mate-applets is needed (which didn't happen
yet) I am a bit clueless on what to do now but as nothing seems wrong
with mate-applets now I rather close the bug.

regards
