Dear Maintainer,
I usually have to
service lightdm restart
after boot because of mate-panel eating CPU and memory.
Killing mate-panel sometimes resolves the issue but may also lead to the same behaviour.
BTW, I see that I am not the only one who needs to use the stable distribution.
