Re: ftp.debian.org: remove armel from forky and unstable

Hi,

I'm not sure who to check this with honestly. For LTS I believe the supported vs. built architectures are discussed with the wanna-build team. For ELTS this is a separate Freexian infrastructure.

(Considering it’s dropped from sid, obtaining enough buildd
capacity for trixie shouldn’t be an issue either.)

IIUC armel builds are done on the arm64 builders, I'm not sure what the situation is there.

(Note: AFAIU only Raspberry Pi v1/v2 and Raspberry Pi Zero v1 are
affected, later models run on arm64.)

Some 2/3 models can run armhf but not arm64, but, yes, this is
a model 1 I got as a gift because it was not in use, and to
prevent, again, e-waste. It runs good enough…

Wrt e-waste, Raspberry Pi OS still supports a specific armhf-v6 32-bit build, based on Debian, that works on all models and that is more performant than our armel build on the Pi1:

Maybe it would make more sense to switch to that?

Cheers!
