For example, upgrade from Debian 8 'jessie' to Debian 9 'stretch' unsupported i586 (in favor of i686).
By the way, an upgraded release usually runs slower than the previous one on the same hardware, etc. Probably as a result of the upgraded developers' hardware :-)
