Hi Antoine

My thinking was that it was easy to check how complicated a backport would be. If we conclude that it is complicated (patches do not apply and it is clear that code need to be re-written) then I think we can consider going for 3.3.30 instead. What do you think?

What do you mean exactly? Backporting it is about as hard as figuring
out how hard it would be to backport, no? :)
