I'm in a bit of an unexpected situation in the last few days, so will
not have much time to attend to this issue at least for a week or so.

What's the timeline for this, is it very urgent?  Importing .xcf files
doesn't seem very critical, but still.

If somebody wants to go ahead with the fix, it's OK for me.
