Bug#1106243: Kernel option 'persistence-encryption'

Control: tags +confirmed

Hello Joe,

The usage of the kernel option 'persistence-encryption' is documented on
https://live-team.pages.debian.net/live-manual/html/live-manual/customizing-run-time-behaviours.en.html#613

It mentions that the live image needs to be built with two additional packages 'cryptsetup' and 'cryptsetup-initramfs' for this option to work properly. However, these packages are currently not installed per default, so that explains why the functionality is not provided.

However, I think that it is good to re-activate this functionality, so it is added to the backlog of features to support for forky. Depending on the impact and/or complexity, it might be considered to be implemented for one of the point releases of trixie, but definitely not for the initial release of trixie.

With kind regards,
Roland Clobus
