hello I'm not a debian developer or contributer.but as a blind user I sink that it would be nice to have screen reader accessible installer in the live system itself.
calamars is fully inaccessible.as you wrote, that installer is written on gtk, and therefore it has good chance to be accessible.
I know some cases when sound worked in the installed/live system but not in the installer environment.
