Bug#1010687: live-tools: error building initramfs on kernel-update from live-system to remounted (rw) boot-device
Package: live-tools
Version: 1:20190831
Severity: normal
Hello Debian Live Team,
i've got an error from "live-update-initramfs" when installing a new kernel-upgrade by "dist-upgrade" under a booted bullseye-live USB-Stick.
Error: "I: update-initramfs is disabled (live system is running without media mounted on /run/live/medium)." during build initramfs on remounted boot-device, when new kernel is updated by "apt-get dist-upgrade".
Details: "live-update-initramfs" uses at https://salsa.debian.org/live-team/live-tools/-/blob/master/bin/live-update-initramfs#L26 and multiple locations a wrong (rw) remounted path on bootable live-image under Debian 11 Bullseye, when updating the kernel from a booted live-image.
As a workaround, the old "live-update-initramfs"-script from "Debian Strech":
https://salsa.debian.org/live-team/live-tools/-/blob/debian/1%2520151214/bin/live-update-initramfs#L25
... fixes this error by using the "correct path" for RW-remounts:
--- cut here ---
... "\/lib\/live\/mount\/medium"
--- cut here ---
Best regards,
Veit Berwig
