Hi,
I tried last debian-live-testing-cinnamon-nonfree 64bit image and tried calamares-installer with luks-encryption. Had 64bit, MBR, bios:
1.tried full disk installation option - > can't boot - > luks2-encrypted root-partition.
2. Tried install on extern-hdd with calamares "substitue partition option" (i use german, so i don't know the original translations) - > same outcome with luks2 encrypted partition.
As compare i tried same scenario with linux mint debian edition 3 with calamares installer. Both options worked as result with luks1 encrypted partition.
The manjaro-guys had similar problem with calamares and luks2 encrypted partitions a few weeks ago...
Is calamares&encryption really working for you with your testing machines?
