/tmp may not be a suitable place to build a live image if it's a tmpfs
with default options (and not just for space reasons). I think nodev and
nosuid, at the very least, would be problematic.
Try a build in your home dir and see if that works.
My /tmp is just a regular directory. No tmpfs. No special mount options.
I tried re-building in /root, and still no luck. Any other ideas?
