I started using the sample jessie preseed file from https://www.debian.org/releases/jessie/example-preseed.txt which the necessary changes, but it doesn't even pass from the very first "Select language" prompt during debian install.
Simply following the example setup from the manual wont work for me: $ echo "d-i debian-installer/locale string en_US" \
>> config/debian-installer/preseed.cfg
