I'm not opposed to this in principle. I'm just not sure if this is the
right thing to do. So I have a few questions beforehand.

Is there already code in live-build that creates this ID on build or is
this created on first boot? Also what happens if you clone your live
system or start multiple instances from the same ISO image? Shouldn't
they all have a separate dbus machine ID?

For the proposed build ID this would be the same for all instances and
not change if you clone your image (or build multiple CDs with the same
ISO). The ID should identify the build and not the running machine.
