Just to be clear.
What I tried to do is built wheezy image with the 3.x version *on my jessie host system*,
not to build jessie live system.

By the way it's really simple to inject proper Debian release version into your configuration.
Here is my auto/config file:

[ -f config/binary ] && \
    cat >> config/binary <<EOF

# Debian releases
RELEASE_squeeze="6.0.9"
RELEASE_wheezy="7.4"
EOF

Anyhow, it will be good to have actual version strings in the live-build package from current stable
archive (version 3.0.5-1 for now) with next Debian 7 update.
