sensible topic i'm afraid.
while what you suggested may very well work, and while live-config does
configure a few things in order to make a system more usable as a live
system, it's not the purpose of live-config to fix other people'
packages and in the spirit of not turning it into a 'random dumphole'
for maintainer lazyness, i prefere not adapting your suggestions into
live-config.
at a more constructive note, someone should fix the package (not me, i
personally don't care about lightdm (nor xfce, for that matter)).
