This does not sound like a great idea.

The 'free' drivers require non-free image.

When fglrx and nvidia is installed (can it even coexist? they each
install their own libgl) it is not possible to use the 'free' driver
which is reccomended option in Debian unless jumping through hoops -
essentially undoing the postinst modification these blob drivers
cause. It is not possible to use the 'free' driver on free CDs for
lack of firmware.
