I did just as you said and made a new config environment but when i run lb build i get this:
/usr/bin/env: mksquashfs: No such file or directory
P: Begin unmounting filesystems...
Google search shows up a bug of years old with no solution.

it's the right location for debian-live stuff, yes.

ubuntu support is best-effort, means, it should work in theory and if
someone finds a problem and sends a patch, we apply it. but we don't
actively test/debug/develop on or for ubuntu.
live-build is in ubuntu main, means, it's fully supported within ubuntu
by the people working on ubuntu, and you probably should just fill a bug
there.
having that said.. allmost all of your mirror entries are wrong, set
them to correct values. i suggest you start again with a new
configuration from 'lb config --mode ubuntu --distribution precise' and
go from there, changing only those things you're sure of, one at a time.
