Hi all,
I have to confess something. I was not entirely honest while putting
up the bug-report. What I had wanted to do was install live-boot (to
make a personalized image) which consists of three packages at least

live-boot, live-boot-initramfs-tools and rsync

Of this live-boot and rsync need each other while
live-boot-initramfs-tools is a standalone package which can be
installed by itself as well as can be seen by aptitude show . As per
the manual given (live-manual) one can install live-boot without an
issue.

$ aptitude show  live-boot-initramfs-tools
Package: live-boot-initramfs-tools
State: installed
Automatically installed: no
Version: 3.0~a20-1
Priority: optional
Section: misc
Maintainer: Debian Live Project <debian-live@lists.debian.org>
Uncompressed Size: 176 k
Depends: busybox | busybox-initramfs, initramfs-tools, udev
Conflicts: live-boot-backend
Replaces: live-boot-backend
Provides: live-boot-backend
Description: Debian Live - System Boot Scripts (initramfs-tools backend)
live-boot contains the scripts that configure a Debian Live system during the
 boot process (early userspace).

This package contains the initramfs-tools backend.
Homepage: http://live.debian.net/devel/live-boot/

Now I had wanted to install all the packages which are needed by
live-boot but since rsync has a grave security bug against it
(http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=621866) I am not
installing it till that gets fixed by somebody.

Perhaps the entire bug-report is wrong /invalid then ?

If yes, I would close it. But if it still has some merit than Michal
would do as you advised.

Looking forward for guidance and sorry for the noise.
